Summer Cocktail Pairings with Pinsa

Summer days are here! At happy hours and backyard BBQs, an authentic Italian pinsa is always a crowd favorite. There’s no better summer duo than a perfectly crisped pinsa and a refreshing cocktail. Whether you prefer sweet, sour, or sparkling drinks, these summer pairings craft a flavorful fusion for cocktail-loving foodies!

Summer Spritz – Aperol Spritz or Hugo Spritz

A spritz in the summer is like fresh mozzarella on a pinsa—they’re basically made for each other. This effervescent drink is an easy summer sipper, not to mention it’s also authentic Italiano! As Aperol and St. Germain are considered aperitifs, they’re both perfect liqueurs to pair with any appetizer pinsa—check out some recipe ideas here! With just three main ingredients, it’s quite simple to just stir and spritz.

  • 3 parts prosecco
  • 2 parts Aperol or St. Germain
  • Splash of club soda
  • Orange slice to garnish for an Aperol Spritz
  • Lemon slice and mint leaf to garnish for a Hugo Spritz

Pour prosecco and Aperol (for an Aperol Spritz) or St.Germain (for a Hugo Spritz) over ice in a wine glass. Top with club soda and fresh garnishes. Cheers!

Brandy Old Fashioned

A twist on a classic Old Fashioned, this Wisconsin-famous Brandy Old Fashioned is a timeless cocktail. This bold blend of spirits is an ideal dinner drink for more mature sippers. Brandy pairs exquisitely with meats, cheeses, and desserts. Whether you create a Calabrese pinsa or a fruitful dessert pinsa, a Brandy Old Fashioned is your table-side accompaniment.

  • 3 dashes bitters
  • 2 orange slices
  • 2 maraschino cherries
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2 oz. Brandy
  • Lemon-lime or club soda
  • Orange slice and cherry for garnish

Combine bitters, orange slices, cherries, and sugar in a rock glass. Muddle ingredients together then fill the glass with ice. Pour Brandy over the ice and top with soda. Garnish with a speared orange slice and cherry. Salut!

Summer Sangria

Trade in your dinner pairing glass of wine for a sparkling summer sangria! Enjoy the fresh berry flavors of summer with a classic combination of red wine and a meaty dish. A summer sangria pairs wonderfully alongside our Potato Sausage or Pancetta E Funghi pinsa recipes.

  • 6 oz. red wine blend
  • 1 oz. Grand Marnier
  • Mixed berries
  • 1 orange
  • Lemon-lime or club soda to top

Pour red wine and Grand Marnier over berries in a wine glass. Squeeze the juice of half an orange and stir well to combine. Fill the glass with ice and top with soda and an orange garnish. Buon appetito!
