A Fresh Take on Tradition

The Caprese salad originated in the 1950s in the Campania Region of Italy on the Isle of Capri. In fact, the name “Caprese” means “of Capri.”

Want to enjoy this vibrant salad on more than a plate? Layer Pinsa Romana or Teglia Romana with caramelized grape tomatoes, basil, mozzarella slices, and drizzle with a sweet balsamic glaze. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and drizzle with EVOO oil for added complexity and nutritional benefits, such as greater HDL (good) cholesterol and reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and other antioxidants.

The Caprese Pinsa is a fresh take on a traditional Italian salad. Often paired with a crunchy bread to add texture, the lightly crisp Pinsa or Teglia Romana crust has all the complexity you need, with less gluten and carbohydrates.
